January 2018 Update
May 2017 Update

Renewal

Our vision for 2017 is to renew the Old Church as a:

  • place of simple beauty offered to God and all who seek him.
  • more comfortable home for the part of our church family that already worships there.
  • place of prayer and encounter with God for others who don’t currently use it.
  • well-used resource, not just for us at Seasalter, but for the whole area and region.
  • welcoming place of retreat, for prayer, worship and rest.

Restoration

The restoration of the Old Church is an important part of St Alphege, Seasalter’s journey. After the congregation outgrew the church, they moved to the Women’s Institute Hall, Joy Lane School and then to Seasalter Christian Centre ten years ago. Now it’s time to complete the circle so that we can pass the Old Church on to future generations with pride.

We are grateful to all who have worshipped at the Old Church over these years, helping us to build the Christian Centre while putting up with poor lighting and heating in their own space.

After decades of minimal maintenance, our vision is to restore a sense of the Old Church’s simple beauty, allowing it to become an accessible place of prayer and peace to complement the busyness of the Christian Centre.
